Recommend a 27" monitor

I would like to buy a new 27" monitor to edit video I shoot with my GP3 Black. In fact, I need to get an entirely new computer because my lowly 4year old mac mini won't cut it anymore. I keep waiting for Apple to release a new MacPro. I am tied to the Apple ecosystem.

So do I purchase a thunderbolt 27" from apple, the a Dell, Samsung, or something else?

Thank you,
John

I might ask this here too since this thread is going – any opinions on this one:

https://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/MX279H/

I see it get dinged for being 1080p and not higher rez for a 27” – I’m more interested in IPS than 27” personally, but it’s tempting for a relatively ‘budget’ monitor at that size. I don’t think I even have a ‘displayport’ on my card anyway currently and I’m not spending over $500 on a monitor. I was looking at them under $200 frankly and this sort of tempted me. Is no DVI a big hassle? I ditched the HDMI in favor of DVI on my current monitor – no boot up menus, nothing until Windows loads.

I’m just not picturing 1080 on a 27” – like with Premiere; would it just make things huge by comparison and not really let you have more items on your timeline vertically or would squishing down your video monitor for instance still allow it to be bigger than a 24” and have more items, etc.

Not trying to highjack the thread, but I hate to start a new thread with the same question more or less. This might enlighten the op with a few things that I’ve picked up on the topic so far possibly.
