Calibrating PC with Lilliput field monitor?

I hooked my PC's up to my little Lilliput field monitor with the pass-through HDMI signal, and thought I would see if I could get a calibrated video signal out of them. I went into the video card drivers, and adjusted the brightness and contrast using the waveform feature until the black was at 0 and the white was at 100IRE. The Lilliput vectorscope put the color bars from the below chart exactly in the special boxes intended for them, so colors seemed fine. I then adjusted my monitors until they were as bright as possible while still allowing for the 0IRE black box to look black as possible.

I've never heard about using a waveform vectorscope to adjust the output signal from a computer for accurate video signal, so I am wondering if there is a better way to do this, or is what I did a passable solution? I am finding my little Lilliput along with my DSC Cammette chart to be invaluable to me.
