VUFINE

Shooting outdoor on a sunny day and can't see the LCD ...

Totally agree, shooting outdoors, especially on a sunny day, can be really difficult. So, concept wise, the eyeglass-mounted viewfinder is a good idea.

As for a drawback, based on looking at their demonstration model, for me the weight would be a concern. It doesn't say what the weight would be but the prototype looks large. The way the mounting setup is, it would put a lot of weight on the nose so this would probably get old really fast.

In one of the applications it shows the user wearing a Vufine with a bicycle helmet and a go pro type camera on top of the helmet. The camera is pointing forward but around here I’d be tempted to aim the camera aft so I could see the cars coming up from behind! (So one can press the record button just before you get hit). As another possible drawback, because the unit is quite large, windage may be an issue.

Searched for their web page address “1202 Kifer Road in Sunnyvale” and came up with a Costco store located there. Hmmmm. Didn’t know Costco was in the startup business.

Did a quick search for “eyeglass mounted viewfinder” and Vufine will be in a very crowded field that includes some very well-heeled firms, including Gogle. As for other products that may have similar capabilities, wikipedia lists quite a few:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optica...ounted_display
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartglasses

The good thing about VuFine is that they’re targeting their product toward the videographer. It would be interesting to find out if any of the existing products could be used to support video.
