What's the maximum cable length for DVI?

I'm planning on buying two Dell 2405 FPWs that I want to feed DVI. However, I have my computers running in a room next to my studio (the cables go through the wall). Hence the question.. I don't want to stake the quality of the signal.

Reliable info would be appreciated!

Roy ... official DVI specs (from my own online research) state that a DVI cable must maintain a solid signal up to 5 meters in length. Real world? I'm not sure but the online rumors are that, with a better cable you can exceed this.

For what it's worth ...

I just bought a 10 M DVI cable for my projector, it is from the same manufacturer
as the project so I assume it is "okay". Seems to work perfectly.

Doing some research I also saw DVI fibre optic "extenders" which let you run
the signal for as long as you want. There where also some other lengthy cables,
all in the $$$$ range though

I have used DVI fibercable upto 50 meters.
It looks like a normal DVI cable but inside the connecters there is a conversion to fiber cable and back to DVI signal. Apprently the power is drawn from the equipment which is connected to the cable.
I have no type number or price.
