What do you think of this field monitor?

I'm looking at this monitor that has HD specs and all the right inputs. Has anyone used this monitor with this camera yet?

My concern is the resolution is 1920 X 1200, would the HD100's image show the right dimensions on this monitor. I know the way to go is an HD CRT. But this is more cost effective right now and could double as a monitor for editing. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Chris

Welcome to DVinfo Chris. This monitor (and the 2405 which was the previous version) has been discussed a lot here. I haven't used one, but others report that 1920x1080 appears in a letterbox in the correct proportions.

See the following threads for starters, maybe some others will chime in with firsthand experience.

We use one and for the money you will be VERY hard pressed to find a better LCD. In fact, if you do find a better one for around the same $$$ let me know so I can buy one.

The DELL 24" has 3 modes for review of the component signal (like from an JVC HD100 camera). One that's actual 1280x720 pixel to pixel, and of course looks like a small(er) image compared to the actual native res of that screen, but you get to see pixel for pixel image, a good thing. One that blows the image up to the full screen yet keeping it at the native aspect ratio (some minor letterboxing at the top / bottom. And one that is full and stretched to fit the screen, image aspect ratio ignored.

I wonder if what some saw was the mode set wrong, maybe.

Great monitor regardless, I would like to own 2 more in fact, one more for the office and one that goes in the field on every shoot to check focus!
