Has anyone heard of the Sony PVM 1354Q monitor?
 

I've seen this around, and wondered if anyone knew whether it was good or not. The features list makes it look great for an editing monitor.

It should be fine for anything but very critical color work. What kind of price are you talking?

Are you looking new or used? When you say critical, how critical? Broadcast, DVD, web, etc. You could probably get by with it for everything but broadcast. You may just need to save your pennies a little longer or keep an eye out for a better deal. You might also look at some of the Panasonic monitors. They don't have the same look as the Sony's but they are very nice and offer a little better value. Sony is very proud of their monitors.

The PVM1354Q was the nicest of the 13 inch series (save for the BVMs) a number of years ago. In fact, it is basically the same as the much more expensive PVM14M2U, save for the fact that it has SMPTE-C phosphors and the PVM14M2U has P22. I picked one up for about 350.00 used, on ebay. Great monitor, I have had it for nearly 6 months and it is incredible, I wouldn't want to edit on anything less (and I tried, with a Panasonic ProLine monitor, what a hunk of Sh.....)
Good luck with whatever you do, if it is in reasonably newer condition, it may serve to have it professionally calibrated, and taught how/what adjustments to make.

It is for broadcast--a public access show I work on that is starting to do sketch comedy. When I edit these skits, which are shot on location, I like to artfully color them (enhanced contrast, bluish or greenish tint) to make them look more like a commercial or music video.

When I looked at this last one on my crappy Panasonic TV, it looked fine. On two other TV's more blue/green than I wanted. This is after I've calibrated the crappy TV, both to Video University's instructions, and to the instructions on the wideopenwest.com site. I give up, and have decided I need a nicer monitor.

What about those Sony WEGA's mentioned in other posts?
