First Love Story | Nicole + Don
 

Ok guys - I have been wanting to do a "love story" video for a while now and I finally got the chance. There are a lot of things that I would have changed.... the way I interviewed the couple would be one of those things... but you live, make mistakes, learn from them and move on.

There are also some shot that I'm not 100% thrilled with that once the photographer is done with their engagement pictures will help take care of that so here is the ROUGH draft of our first love story video.... what do you think?

I wanted to get some real feedback before I actually present it to the world plus I am waiting on the photos... so why not get some constructive criticism in the meantime.

This was also the first time we used our 7D on a BIG project and our homemade glidecam. There are only a few shots that are actually from the 7D - most of it is still from our panasonic.

Hi Heather,

First off congratulations on your first Love Story. I remember the first one I did and boy it was nothing like what you got here. My preference is not to zoom unless I need to. Processionals or for added effect. In this piece there were 3 places where you did zoom which weren't necessary. The one that worked well was at the end when the couple was walking towards you and you were zooming out. That worked out great. Also when interviewing the couple try not to keep them in the same position. Pretty much the Groom was facing the left side of the screen but also was the bride. In the future have them face opposite sides of the frame. So Groom faces right side of the screen and the Bride faces left side or vice versa. Lastly the music is a bit loud as you can notice the drop in volume once you hear the interview portions. I would lower the music a bit so the drop in volume isn't as pronounced. Also make sure the mics are a bit hot, sounded like you had too boost them up a bit in post. I do run into this problem sometimes on my gigs. Again Over all a really good job for the first one and each one after should be better than the last. Thanks for sharing.
