That glow effect

What are you guys using to get the white glowing look in your video. I am running AvidXpess Pro, and use after effects. Do you have a plugin package that you would recommend? I have tried a couple but have not really liked them. Is this something you are getting from just playing with the levels in the color settings. I do not want to spend a lot for just this one effect so buying a whole set of plug ins may not be whats best for me. Any ideas or help would be great.

I use Avid as well and I tried a few out, there is the digitalfilmtools 55mm effects package although its sold as tiffen DFX now for around $600 but looks like a great package (http://www.tiffen.com/dfx_filter_effects_ig.html). Genarts Sapphire plugins but very expensive. Magic bullet is great to which can achive glow/halo type effect and great for that film look as well. If you go to Pluginz.com they have a huge listing, I did a search for Glow and Avid and found this http://www.pluginz.com/product/11046 and only $89 but I havn't tried that one. that should get you started hopefully.

Hi Rob -

Sony Vegas has a really nice glow effect, which may be the one that you are seeing. The glow in addition to a fade in from white is one of my favorite effects.

is there an effect for premier?

Peter Jefferson November 25th, 2007 11:31 AM

Glow has its weakness, and that is interlaced footage on slow motion.

I wont go into the crux of it, but make sure your don't blow out your exposure.

For Premiere, if your using the Matrox card. Try the soft focus effects. The more effect you use the more "glowing" the shot will become. If you dont have the Matrox card I think you can create a similar effect in Premiere, but don't remember how, maybe someone else can comment in on that?
