Upbeat SDE

Sharing with you a fast paced SDE we did last March 4.

http://jmagbanua.com/vids/lovely_kit.wmv

We shoot the groom early in the morning of the wedding day. The whole fishing thing (he's so much into it), was the groom's idea and he wanted to tie everything in with that.

He even picked the song Frou Frou - Breathe.

Thanks for watching. Comments and suggestions most welcome.

Cheers!

JMag:

Really cool...and refreshing. Always love your ring shots. Really liked the rainbow shot. Are you using Twixtor?

See ya in New Orleans.

Jason- you continue to inspire! I love your color work. Really liked the way you tied the piece together with the fishing theme.

Extraordinary! Not a frame out of place. I hope you are making tons of money, because if this is the type of product you deliver consistently then you're absolutely worth it.

Cameras, software etc. aside, you really exhibit artistry. I'd bet that even with iMovie and a cheapo camcorder from Wal*Mart you'd put most of us to shame! Great job!

Frank,
You should see the video he shot with a cell phone. Simply amazing.

Frank Simpson March 21st, 2008 08:18 PM

Jason B-

I'll bet it is! I don't even know how to shoot video with my cell phone...

John, I'm really excited and looking forward to NO. Nope no Twixtor. Just native Premiere. That rainbow shot was a lucky break. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Art! Thanks Frank!

I was bummed that the formals happened after dark. It would have been awesome if the couple fishing together was shot by sunset. Oh well, wishful thinking.

Jason, very nice work! At the beginning I was wondering about the fisherman in the narrative, than it fit for me, I love dynamic storytelling of the wedding.
What's the song, singer?

Ram Purad March 22nd, 2008 12:09 PM

Great work as usual Jason. Great color grading, shot composition and editing.

This is way too good to be a SDE. Approx. in how many hours did you put this piece together?

James Thirston March 22nd, 2008 08:52 PM

Hey JB,
I love your whip pans & extreme colour, it's all so "Crime Scene Investigation".

I've been trying to sell a similar style here in Australia but people just don't get it, yet they'll pay double the price for art photography. Most just want the typical boring archival documentary video with the only ones that like my style being the the arty types that can't afford me. It's so hard to sell creative wedding video in a country that is so obsessed with football, cricket & everything to do with sport.

Oh hey, how's your Lomography thing going?

Greets,
JT

James. Don't give up just yet. Perhaps mix or dilute (i know that's a bad word among artists) the cutting edge with stuff that's more palatable.

Market in the right channels. I sincerely believe that there is a niche in your country is no less sophisticated than what we have in the Philippines (third world, whipping boy, 75% under the poverty line).

The Lomo stuff is doing great. Those little buggers cost a bundle when added up.

from last year. lca+
