What is this?
 

Hey Everyone,
I don't typically edit very istinctively. Normally it is more scientific than that. This one strangely guided me more than the other way around. I'm not sure what I think of it really, but it seems to drag me into the day more than usual and the ending leaves me wondering where they were going etc.
This is a complete departure for me as I usually do more of a cinematic style with alot of slomo & dissolves. What does everybody think of this? BTW the bride and groom know nothing of this, they didn't pay for it etc. I just do this to have something for the blog and to promote, etc. They didn't pick the song or whatever, so I'm not sure if it's even something they like but like I said it's instinct. It took a total of about 1.5 hrs. Thanks in advance.

Bill...we shoot primarily the cinematic style so I know how hard it is to depart from that but I think you did a nice job on this, it had a feeling of being real. I liked the song too.... a C. Jones inspiration?

Bill - I've been having the same urges as you of late. I find myself wanting to use less and less slowmo, more nat sound, and a more slice of life or verite editing style. I'm calling it the Cinematic Backlash™.
Seems that you see the cinematic style all over these days and it's suddenly not as fresh and new so we're all looking for a way to be heard above the din. I'm posting my first non-cinematic edit sometime this week. Funny that you're having the same feeling at the same time.
It could also be that I'm just getting tired of doing the same type of video all the time. Most likely it's a combination of all these things.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have long preferred watching this style, and haven't really been able to pull off anything yet. I'm considering shooting my next wedding in 24f. I think it would just spur me along to better camera technique, etc. if I didn't have slo-mo to rely on. Interesting.

Bill I too have been wanting to shoot in 24 but have not pulled the trigger yet...at least for a wedding. I just need to step out of my comfort zone!

Easier said than done. I sat down today to edit and guess what's coming out... slowmo and pretty. I went with FX7's so I wouldn't have the constant inner struggle of wanting to shoot 24p, but now that I see the kinda slowmo some people have been getting with 24p and Twixtor.... I dunno....
