My Dell XPS 1210 is on its second year. (2.0 core2 duo, 2 gig ram, 100g Hd)

I think my next would be a d830.

I found a good one (I think) with a reasonable price:

Sony Vaio Fz4000 (I do prefer PC instead of mac) :)

The config is:
C2d T9300
2gb DDR2
250 Sata 7200rpm
GFORCE 8400gt

Is this great for either SDE and full footage editing? (I need to buy another computer for my company and I'm thinking if that laptop could be used both for SDE and full wedding footage editing)

Thanks

I am looking at buying a MBPro at 2.33ghz and the ATIX1600. Will this run color and motion well enough? it also has 2gig of ram and a 7200rpm hard drive. Anyone else using it. Its a year old though and apple is offering a refurb 2.4 with the Geforce for $2400, which is better?

We have a few of the MBP 2.4. Awesome for SDE's.

I'm using a Dell M90 myself. I run Avid on it and it does pretty well. If its something heavy duty I bring my desktop. Its not as aggravating as it sounds since everything including the RAIDs are in the main case.

There are times when only a quad core machine can do the job in the time available...

Hey guys,
I was hoping someone would know if the 2007 model 2.33ghz and ATI X1600 will be good enough for SDE's using color and motion. I can pick it up for about $700 less than a 2.4 refurb with the Nvidia card. It is also a 17".

Thanks Raph,
Were you using color on it or just FCP? Thanks for the reply though.

Hey Raphael,

On your MacBooks are you using XP and Premiere in BootCamp? Or within a program like Parallels?

Thanks,

Matthew.

Aww man Jason, your using a Dell, I think I just gained a whole new level of respect for your SDEs if your pulling them off on a PC :)
