H2 setting for string quartet
 

I've yet to use my Zooms at a wedding yet and wanted to see what an average setting might be for a string quartet.

My thinking was to get it on a stand approx. 4 feet using the 90 degree setting, set on M gain and record at about 130.

I have no idea how I came up with those numbers since I've never used it on a situation like this.

Anyway ... for those that have used it in a wedding situation ... do you have certain settings that you fall back on?

String quartet is simple.
Set pre amp to medium, record levels to 106 and record on 2 or 4 channel from both sides of the H2.

Place the H2 if possible in the middle of the musicians for good stereo pickup.

If you want to record only from one side of the mic, then set the H2 up to record from the back of the unit (120 degrees) as you will get a fuller pickup area.

The H2 worked just fine. I placed it right next to a speaker at a large church and it picked up everything. For the groom ... just my wireless, so I was in good shape.

Also ... I used the Zoom for my reception as per your settings and again ... very good sound.

My one regret is that I didn't use the front AND back mic elements to allow for a bit more ambient sound. But for the toasts, I can mix it a bit with my other mic and the music ... it won't matter much.
