Wedding Shooting Question

I use a DVX 100 for my wedding work (haven't made the jump to HD yet). I keep seeing talk of shooting weddings in 60i. We use 30p. What are the advantages/disadvantages of 60i over 30p?

60i will give you smoother motion, 30p will not give you interlacing.

Shoot some sample footage and watch it. In my opinion, 60i gives you a cold, "reality show" look. Soap operas, late night talk shows, cheap commercials are shot in 60i. 30p would give a more film-like look (although not as good as 24p.)

Okay. Maybe that rules out the 60i possibility.

After further investigation, it looks like we were shooting in the 29.97 setting. When I set the camera up in a static shot, without altering anything but the 29.97 to 30p. . .the shot appears to get a little darker. Does 30p require more light?

And. . .I see fuzzy/jagged edges on the monitor in the current setting. Its irritating because I know the DVX is a better camera than that. Could this problem be related to the 29.97 setting?
