Need tripod adaptor

I have a Sony tripod and a bogen monopod, I'm looking for some kind of tripod adaptor/contraption that I can use so I don't have to change out tripod plates everytime I want to switch from monopod to tripod. Does anything like that exist?

Any information is appreciated.

Hi Terry,

There are a number of such devices. Having Cams no larger than a TRV950, I use the SIMA Quick connectors. I've got them on all my units, so every thing interchanges.

Hi Terry and Alastair,

Years ago I tried those units that Alastair has, I've got 2 or 3 of them also, but found them to have too much movement (looseness). That's why I went with the SIMA units.

Just my experience.

Thanks Harold,
I'll need them for the EX1 so I purchased a couple of these.
357 Bogen - Manfrotto Pro Rapid Connect Adapter Assembly with Sliding Mounting Plate# 357PL (#3273)

Hoping they work fine.

Thanks again!

The trick is to find a QR base and plate that fits your needs, and buy a few of them - I too have the Sima - small and cheap, works well. Also have some larger, heavier duty Bogen sets, can't recall the model #...

Terry, I bought a used Bogen tripod and the seller threw in one of those Bogen adapter plates as a freebie. I was glad he did because it works great. Good choice. Fast, strong, positive, professional quality.

Hi Terry & Dave & Greg,

The Bogen's are GOOD stuff, but over kill for my cams, except for my 19 yr. old Pana S-VHS shoulder unit. It's a monster, but it's been retired for a while. Still works like new though.

Anything bigger than my TRV950, and I'd be using the Bogen units.
