for those who are shooting with S8...

Do you guys do anything with the actual roll of film. I plan on giving it the B&G, I know that most people dont have a projector. But I would like to give them some sort of handheld viewer (dont know the tech. name)... where they could view 4 to frames... Maybe just the important ones.
Any ideas?

I am shooting primarily negative film stock, so even if they did have a projector or other viewer they still couldn't look at it. I don't know of any viewers being made today, so you will probably have a hard time finding very many available and they will probably be quite expensive.

I guess the idea of giving them the actual film as a memento has some merit, even if they don't have a practical way of viewing it.

i give it to them, too. most will never try to find a projector, but it's good for them to have for archival purposes. also, it unclutters my office!

They called them editor-viewers - hand-cranked, back-projected, rather dim pictures. Every now and then mine goes out to clients who wish to view all the little rolls they've found in the attic so that they can place them in chronological order for me to digitise. They ask for my projector but don't get it.

But shooting weddings on the stuff? Surely digital jiggery-pokery can replicate the super-8 look down to specifying Ektachrome 40 grain?

We give them the rolls. They hold and say...cool... That's good enough for me to keep doing it.
