I shoot American football here in Texas for the local high schools using A1s. During the day, 1/100 works great. Depending on the lighting of the stadium at night, sometimes we had to go down to 1/60 to get a good image. But sports generally look awesome at 1/100 in my experience, day or night, with decent stadium lighting.

Good luck!
