To buy or not to buy XL2?

Hi. Everyone.
I'm newbie here.
I am freelancer wedding videographer.

I have vx2000 right now. do you guys think XL2 is OK for wedding? Also using XL2 as main camera & vx2000 as second camera is good idea?

I searched almost half days in this forum. Most opinion about XL2 as wedding video camera is not so positive.

Please give your opinion XL2 as wedding video camera. (Pro & Con will be really helpful for me)

Thanks!

Look at its low light abilities compaired to your VX2000. If you have to have 24p then the DVX100 is better in low light than the XL2 but not as much as the camera you already own. Thats the biggest con of the XL2 when it comes to weddings. The second would be its lens. Great on the telephoto but not too wide. If your thinking about using it WITH your VX2000 you'll most likely not use the 24p mode and do 60i instead so they match. In that case then you missing out on 24p anyways so the XL2 looks even less attractive for weddings at that point. But for OTHER work the XL2 is much better in many ways than the VX2000.

You already have one of the top wedding cams (VX2k) why down-grade. I say that in terms of this genre- not that the XL2 is a downgrade from the VX otherwise.

If you were shooting indie films and shorts I'd say go DVX100 or XL2. Weddings are definitly best left up to the VX and PD cams.

If your itching for an upgrade- consider the PD-170.

Confirming what others said, the XL2 is not the best choice to mate with a vx2000. Search for a vx or pd if you want to focus on weddings.

I ordered PD170.

I guess XL2 is not for me because 90% of my project is Wedding.

Thanks for your opinion.
