Shooting a Bridal Ball/Fashion Show
Anyone ever shot one of these? Open to advice and suggestions. I'm shooting three cams, two manned and one locked down. XH-A1s, 5D, and HF20 - all Canon. Probably less light than desirable. Basic objective is to talk to vendors pre-show and then shoot the fashion show. Thanks to all in advance...

I shoot a fashion show for a college every year , I do shoot with 3 manned cams 2A1s and one H1 and it has been a challenge evey year with lighting.
* If the lighting is weak shoot in 30f not 60I. * Do not use auto focus. * Make sure you get your audio from the stage mixer on two cams, so when you change tapes on one cam you don't lose the sound.(if the show is more then one hour). * keep your zepra ON, you do not want to over exposure any shots, with fashion shows details on the models are very important. *The runway is never even with the lights, so adjust your exposure to the higher lighting on the runway. Here is a link to the last year fashion show: Fashion Show 2009 on Vimeo Good luck !!!!!! |
Michael, that's all GREAT advice, exactly what I was looking for. Do you recommend a specific low-light A1 preset?
Loved the clip, btw. It looks like you managed pretty well under those circumstances! Bill |
