Useful iPhone Applications for Wedding Videographers

ok, i'll start off with my own personal list of fav apps, for assisting in this industry:

(not inc. obvious ones like Mail, Weather, Maps, Safari Internet, Youtube etc)

- Saisuke (to share calendars with my team, so we all know what we're all up to at any given day - this links to Google Calendars/Outlook btw, bonus!)
- HeyWAY (at any point in time I can send my googlemap location to someone in my team, and they can send theirs back - great for when we take 2 cars to weddings, in busy areas)
- any of the Remote Desktop apps (e.g. Jaadu, VNC etc) - (so you can check up on your edit renders while you're out and about!)
- AroundMe (list of nearby hotels, service stations, restaurants etc)
- WhatsApp (chatting, status updates - this uses the Push function so you get sent them instantly)
- AppBox (all sorts of things - dates/units/currency/tips calculator etc etc)
- TubeMap (for help with updates and routes on the London Underground!)
- Ebay (uses the Push function too so i get reminders when auctions are about to end)
- Facebook (check up on fanpages, emails, walls etc)
- SketchPad (quick sketches of visual ideas - even has layers like photoshop)

anymore?

p.s. for those that don't know, you can bookmark your site/blog on your iphones and have your own personal iPhone icon (add either of my web addresses to see what i mean)

p.p.s. And if you get bored during the wedding breakfasts, there's always Rope'n'Fly, TouchPhysics, Monkey Island, GymBabes.... ;)

I'm glad someone else has noticed it. Please tell us how you get on using it - I couldn't find any reviews.

i must admit i had contemplated getting it a while ago, but talked myself out of it, thinking i could do the same thing quicker on paper. but def. a cool concept, no doubt about it!

ok, here are some other apps that people have been mentioning on the UK forum of the same thread:

ITC Calc Lite - for work in post production
GoodReader - for carrying searchable PDF manuals in your pocket of all your equipment
Echofon - for tweeting
Audioboo - for posting, well, audioboos.
Flight control - for addictive gameplay
Shazam/Midomi - for identifying songs
Pro Prompter - Autocue in your pocket!
TomTom app - if you don't already own a TomTom/SatNav

Colin, I purchased Hitchcock 2 days ago, so I must spend extra times to get used to it :D We're doing lotsa 'Save the Date' (STD) videos recently, so Hitchcock would be very useful to us.

This cool app connects to Iphone's camera, so you can capture 'real' and 'photographic' scenes (compared to hand-sketched storyboard), put some notes, durations for each scene and even camera movements (pan and zoom) etc.

Richard, you must be an Iphone wizard! :P Must learn a lot from you! Thanks for sharing :D

Anything for BB users? lol... I know I'm on the dark side :-)

A good one for video stuff, not necessarily weddings, is iSlate. A very good slate with multiple frame rate time code, shot logs, etc.

we have used the weather channel for radar info that helps us plan for outdoor weddings and other shoots.

for FCP users, there is an app for tons of shortcut key info. Its called iKeysToGo

5DMK2 users, there is an app for a quick ref manual called Handi5Dmk2
