SDE & Pre-recorded interviews

For some clients, we pre-record interviews generally of the B&G. For our last one, we recorded the parents as the MOB is terminal and we were unsure if she would make it for the day - she did.

This is just a pondering question -
does adding this change the comcept of it being a SDE?
What about footage of the interview or other scenes from an engaement shoot for eg?

not in my opinion. Just because you can it an SDE doesn't mean you can't use stuff that was recorded earlier. If it's the right stuff, IMO it can only add to the production.

I agree with Don. If you're incorporating footage of their wedding day and editing it that day ... it's an SDE. Most videographers edit the music prior to the wedding day and pre-plan shots for the timeline. It's still considered an SDE. Now if 90% of the edit was done prior to the wedding day, then maybe things would be different. d;-)

Thanks guys,

you're right. It's always a dilema as to what would be considered to be an SDE and what is acceptable as pre & post editing.

I see so many great SDE clips and have wondered how much pre/post editing has gone into it before loading up to the web.

We shot a 4 day long Indian wedding and then did a SDE on the 4th day with all of the amassed footage. I think in the end about 50% was actual footage from the last day.
