Pre-wedding video, with or without a theme ?
Hey,
What do you prefer when doing a pre-wedding video ? Do you prefer making a video around a specific theme or just editing soms nice shots of the couple together walking, dancing, ... I have the feeling that when a couple wants to have a video around a specific theme, you really have to watch out that it doesn't look like too much acting and something that is supposed to be funny isn't funny anymore. What do you think about it ? |
I like building it around a theme only because it's fun brainstorming with the couple. I think it's important though to keep it simple. When the couple just tells me all they want to do is walk around and grab shots here and there... Then thats fine too, but I always suggest that we shoot an interview sequence to help spice the video up.

Themes are helpful. And so are sound bytes. I find the edit to have more of a purpose and focus with some carefully crafty questions and answers.

Pre-wedding shoot
I recommend getting as much material as possible, so include interviews and candid shots. I try and shoot some stuff of them enjoying their own hobbies seperately as well, in the past this has included motorbike racing, bowling, dancing lessons, even bingo!! but basically the more you have the easier it will be to cut.
