Firewire

I was downloading a wedding I did on Saturday and I noticed some popping (quick skips in the audio) on the video. I checked the Mini DV tape with my vx2100 and it did not have any popping. I think it may be my firewire cable. Do these cable go out over time?

"Do these cable go out over time?"
Never heard of a cable losing its natural ability to conduct electricity. But hey I might be wrong.

If you got the "quick skips in the audio" while capturing the you need not worry. It might just be preview of audio while capturing/synchronising.

Gary, cables can definitely 'go bad'. It's generally rare, but it does happen. Bjorn is right that the preview you saw on screen might not accurately represent what was captured.
