Real Estate Videos?

Here's a craigslist ad. Don't have a good feeling about this but take a look anyway. Any opinions?

Hi Jaime

I used to do tons of Realty Videos but they died off. Realtors seem to be penny pinchers at the best of times and offers to shoot video were always welcomed BUT they expected a $50 job!!! What I used to do is get the Realtors to send me 10 still pics which I made into an online video just using pans and zooms to make them "active" ...They used to pay me $60 per home but remember that I simply was doing a quick edit and upload...no actual shoot!!! Homes are static objects so unless you went to the effort of having a live presenter showing you thru the home..stills usually work just as well!!

I honestly cannot see any viable income from this ...you have to pack your gear, drive to the house, setup and film and then edit!!! An awful lot of work for probably a very small amount of money!!!

What I still do is shoot Property Condition reports...it's a quick room by room filming procedure with a running commentary...no editing ...just dump it onto DVD and that's it!! Usually takes under 2 hours from start to finish and they pay me $200 a house!! The agent gets the DVD as proof of the house condition and when the tenant moves out they can charge for any damage.

We had a friend who was a realtor who had this pretty amazing house for sale in middle tenenssee up in the mountains on this awesome lake. It was about $500,000 home. We worked out a deal where we would go shoot it and such in exchange for a long weekend at the home.

So we grabbed a group of friends and spent a weekend living in luxury while shooting the footage.

That was the only real estate video we've ever done.

Unless you can work out some major $$$, a percentage of the sale, or luxurious weekend vacation... it's not worth it.

Well, unless you really just need some work and portfolio building.
