the cut to black frames drove me nuts! but its a cute idea though

I would second the statement about the cuts to black. Liked everything else. Was there a story/reason for the kids in the middle part?

There's a message here - Any effect that is overused can be irritating and get old very quickly. No doubt whoever edited that piece though the repetitive cuts to black were really slick. But when overused, any effect can be irritating to others who see it.

The latest irritant for many is the overuse of shallow depth of field 'stunts'. The appropriate use of shallow depth of field can be awesome and add a great deal to a production. But some grossly overuse their new toy and as a result the impression is negative instead of positive. Every - single - scene isn't an opportunity for a wowie-zowie shallow depth of field demonstration. That gets old - right now. Love your clients; love your style; love your work; but don't fall in love with your latest tool or trick. If you do, you will overuse it and the 'object of you affection' will distract you from doing your best work.

Don't let your love for your 'stuff' blind you to how others see it. You may be the only one who loves your 'ugly baby.'

I thought the black frames added to the style of the editing, much like the jump cuts.

Yeah, it was a "style" alright. ;-)
