Do you guys like to roam at multi-cam weddings?

I generally use one cam in the back to get a wide angle shot for cut aways, and I Lock down my main camera in the front opposite of the bride...

But in the wedding I have on Friday the priest doesnt want any cameras up on the alter/podium area, so I will have to set my tripod behind the bride and groom to the side...

I was wondering since Im not going to be tied down in a corner now, If I should roam alittle (ie. move in to get a few different MoneyShots closeup? or
do you stay firmly planted with pans and zooms?? ) The Priest said that even though I could not setup on the area around the alter, that I could move in everyonce and a while during the ceremony to get different shots. I just dont know how I feel about moving that much during the Ceremony.

I borrowed a 3rd cam that I was going to set up on a tripod with a wide angle of the Guests along with the second cam in the balcony...

By the way I will be doing this by myself on friday, because my helper just had a baby and she cant come.

Thanks for the input.

I try not to move around that much. Usually at the beginning to get the bride coming down the aisle and then at the end to get them both coming down the aisle. I would keep your moving around to a minium, but get the shots that you need. Good luck.

Being that the minister doesn't allow a camera up there...he probably will not enjoy you moving around much...there have been arguments about this in the past...anyway, I do the same as David, and try to stay put as much as possible with one cam in front and one in back, and choose one to man after I stand up front for the processional. Being that you cannot get the front shot, man the side for a bit and then head back during a prayer or song...just pick a good time to move if you move. Maybe use your third cam as a fixed parent or guest shot.
