Very helpful phone app

I've had this app on my Android for a while and thought I'd pass it along. I'm sure there's a similar app for iPhone and other brands. It's called SoundHound. You basically tap the "Listen" button and hold the phone up to a certain song, and it will tell you the song title and artist (as well as youtube links and buy links to the song). Normally it's not that hard to find a song title if I can just pick up a few of the lyrics I can just google it, but I filmed an Indian 25th anniversary this weekend, and the B&G came out to dance to their original first dance. I was not able to get the song title that night and when I got home, I just used SoundHound - came right up. Now I've got the perfect song for the trailer! On a probably less helpful side note, you can actually sing most songs into the app and if you're not a terrible singer, it should recognize them too. Hope some of you find this helpful!

Did I mention this app is free? Also, while I'm talking about useful utilities, I've just discovered Levelator too (from the makers of PluralEyes). It's a program that levels audio to the same level. So if I edited a reception down to a 30 minute movie, I could just export the sequence to a WAV file, drop the WAV into Levelator, and re-import the WAV back into your editing software when its done. If you've got people giving toasts that hold the mic really close or really far away from their mouth, loud reception music, etc, it puts it all into a good listening range. I've not fully tinkered with it yet, but I'm excited about the possibilities. Plus, it is free too!

OK.... So I am NOT the only one who isn't up on all the latest songs/titles either !!! :-)

One reception we did, I ended up ripping MP3s and sending them around, to see if someone I knew, could tell me what songs they actually were. :-)

Haha...I'm definitely up on the 15 songs that get recycled every single wedding, but apparently need to brush up on my bollywood soundtrack titles!

The one (or one of the ones) for iPhone is called Shazzam. Very cool and helpful.
