Cameras with Wedding Pictures Stolen in Hawaii

A photographer friend of mine who had all his equipment stolen after a wedding in Hawaii the past weekend. Wedding was shot in Maui, but equipment was stolen in Anahola Kauai. His equipment and his friends equipment that was stolen totals about $20,000.

We have some of the serial numbers to the equipment which is listed in the attached photo. Most importantly, they hope to recover photos from the couple's wedding. They would greatly appreciate it!

Terrible Taky, and in paradise too. Hope they either get it all returned, had good coverage and get the pix back.

But some of the congregation may have suitable shots, at least. Scout all the guests to find out, see if they can make an album of the best.

Taky, since your friend have all records of the serial number of his camera's, refer him to this site
CameraTrace: Results From Your Free Trace. I got a hit when I type the second serial number.

Taky,

That sucks so bad! I think everyone on this board worries about that. And the media from the wedding too. I'm glad I read this because I did not know about that tracing site. Does anyone know if serial numbers from video cameras are embedded in the metadata or EXIF? I have a brand new EA50 from Sony. Thanks for the tip.

Six months ago I found a very large roller bag in a resort parking lot. It was obvious someone forgot to load it into a car, drove off, and it was sitting there all by its self. I opened it and knew instantly who it belonged to. It was an entire pro camera kit with two Nikons and an entire assortment of lenses and gear, it was loaded up big time. I had seen the photographer working in the ballroom just before that. She works for the biggest photo agency here in Phoenix and I know them. I took it to security then called their office myself to make sure they got the word right away. She never even called me to say thank you. I was shocked because she even knows me. I saw her again a few month later. She laughed about it and said that is exactly what she did. Rolled it out, walked around her car to talk to someone and forgot to load it. Still did not say thank you. Oh well, my karma is clean.

Maybe someone honest will find the stolen stuff and report the bad guys. I hope it turns out well.

Steve

Every operator's nightmare.
its one of the things i used to worry about when i did solo weddings!! very difficult to keep track of all the equipment, now that i have a partner it's much easier thankfully.

Someone else suggested Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera. Thus a friend of mine used this site to find out DigitalRev was selling him a used 5D Mark 3 as new.
