Church show with video projection screen on stage?

What is the best way to deal with the projection screen that will be in shoots of my stage.
I will be using to Canon XHA1 to shoot a church choir performance. It is also very bright in the church do to the windows and the time of day 6:30pm to 7:30pm. it will start bright and end much dimmer.
Last time I had a screen like this it would be over exposed but if I drop my exposure I loose my subject?

That can be a real pain -- I had to figure out what to do last summer when a couple incorporated a video on a projection screen as part of the ceremony. The church was dim, and exposure was driving me nuts. The way I overcame this was to set up a camera dedicated to just shooting the screen, so that I could cut to it often. In all the other shots, it's overexposed, but it all worked out fine.

I filmed an event last year with this scenario - if you can get a copy of what is being screened, you can then add back the images in post - I used a picture in picture effect, with some distortion, and was able to show both the screen, and people's reaction in the same shot.
May not be applicable, but an idea?
