Stop my camera 'screwing around'

Sort of camera specific but one of you may have a solution for me (hoping)

Well one solution always seems to create a new problem. I've been using the A7s on a 'shooter' type rig and with an anti-twist plate (actually for the 5D but works with the A7s) the camera has been rock solid.

Now I've bought the battery grip of course the bloody thing has a rounded base rendering my anti-twist plate pretty useless as it has a fairly shallow lip - now every 5 minutes I find myself having to re-tighten the tripod plate screw - why do stills cameras have no anti-rotation pin hole?

Any solutions from you guys???

How about some Velcro stuck on the grip and the tripod plate, should still leave plenty of thread for the tightening screw.

I got a nice tip on this recently. Get a silicone baking tray or cake tray for the oven. Cut strips or whatever necessary shape out of it and place between the camera and plate.

It's pretty tough stuff and cheap.

Google "silicone cake mold" and you'll see what I mean. Has worked well for me. I would advise only using one layer as using more can lead to a little give and cause the camera to wobble.

We use ReallyRightStuff L brackets on all our cameras. Pricey, but since they are shaped for specific cameras/battery grips, there's no twist issue. Once clamped onto an Arca Swiss compatible mount, it's like it's welded to the rig/tripod/etc.

Tried them Todd - they don't have one suitable for the Sony A7 Battery grip - still looking!
