Restrictions on lithium ion batteries

Found this article interesting, so wanted to share it. Restrictions on weight and batteries are the main things that make me apprehensive any time anyone asks me to travel by plane to a shoot (which is rarely).

Re: Restrictions on lithium ion batteries

Adrian - thanks for the battery article. Even though I’ve read other articles on the subject it was an interesting read and thee was one good take-away:

“It’s also a good idea not to travel with your batteries fully charged. Keeping charge levels at 40–70 per cent will ensure the particles that store energy will be in their most stable state during travel, minimising the risk of thermal runaway.”

In hindsight this is common sense; however, I hadn’t given it any thought. Normally I just top off the Li-ion batteries before flying but now I’ll so the opposite!

Also, the bit about the non-declared batteries being a greater danger than the declared ones - that made sense.

Thanks for taking time to make the post.
