Processional Real Estate

How do you compete with the photographer with space during the processional without getting the photographer in the way of the video. Do you talk with the photographer beforehand to allocate space? I seem to be getting the photographer in my shot.

Thanks

the photographers will always have their methods whch work for them... and no matter what u try to do to dissuade them, if theyre set on that technique, so be it, u wont change it and dont bother trying...

what i do is i tell them where i will be (im usually standing beside the groom or on the right hand side of the aisle facing back literally at the first pew (brides side) or over the grooms shoulder, when all this is happening anyway).
The photog usually tell me there theyre gonna be and i work around it. Most of teh time, they like my ideas so were usualy standing beside each other pointing things out to each other as things progress.. teamwork works best coz they might see something i dont and i might see somethign they dont..

U gotta remember than with our camera, weve got a longer telephoto range than the photog, and taking one step aside usually fixes any bad shots.

Its usually not a problem and if a photog gets in my way AFTER theyve told me theyre doing somethng else, i adapt as needed.

Naw, I just smack 'em upside their head knock 'em down and say-Gee I hope we won't have any territory issues today :-)

I'm KIDDING I'm KIDDING!!!!!

Generally I work with a lot of the same people many times a years so its a non-issue but once in a while it's someone that I haven't worked with. I try to be genial and explain what I'll be doing during the ceremony and just ask that they be aware of me as I am of them-in other words treat them as a professional as they would treat me as one-I've had 2 cases in the last 5 years that were a bit of a problem but both were taken care of in a rather timely fashion by me-I try not to involve anyone else-I'm a grown up and I can speak for my self so I tend to take care of things myself. Anyway, I don't bend over for anyone but just work with the other person as 2 pros going about our business being respectfull of one anothers space seems to work.

Why do you think they call those mounts "bayonette" mounts? You mount a bayonette, and he might get in your way once...

keyword is ONCE.. ;)

Most photographers will pick a side of the isle and give you the other. But some will step in front of you if they feel like it. Basically, they don't care that your shot is ruined as long as they get their shot.

I like shooting in HD. I offer the B&G as many stills as they would like for those PROBLEM photographers. I hope it gets them were it hurts, the wallet!

I am done with photographers that are unprofessional. I don't work with some because they are so bad. The first question I ask, Who is your photographer? If they are on my list, I show the problem photograher during a wedding. If they still decide to use the photographer, I have the sign a wavier that I am not responsible for their photographer. Half the time, the wavier scares them away. Which is fine because its a struggle to work with certain photographers.

Good luck
