As far as I know, there is now way to record from tape to your HD any faster. You can record direct to a harddrive mounted on your camera, with something like a firestore or you can record directly to your laptop with something like dvrack, but I think those are the only ways to speed it up.

we take a laptop, and a consumer camcorder (which doesnt juice out too much power)

as we shoot, we capture, so during the ceremony, we capture the morning stuff either in the car on teh way to the church, or we set up a corner in the church and just run the capture while the ceremony is happening.. then when one of us is at the photoshoot, we capture the ceremony (only the important bits)
By the time we get to the reception, most of the stuff is captured (we use a USB powered external drive and a load of Lappy batteries) if i have power sockets available to me, id use a bigger drive (i always bring 2)
at the reception, we shoot the cake alone, main entry, cutting of the cake and the first dance.

Pretty intense stuff, but it is possible...
i had 4 firestire units (2 for DVX and 2 for Z1) and sent them back.. nothin but trouble

Ok then is there any deck that maby had a jog shuttle wheel that would enable you to scrub the tape fast ( kinda like the splicing machine I used to see my folks use with 8 and 16mm film ) Maby that would cut down time used to look for the right shots to bring into the computer. Thanks again TAG
