Automated photo repair?
 

Can anyone suggest some affordable software which does automated repair of scanned photos with rips and other damage in the image? I can do that manually in Photoshop, but I'm looking for a 'quick and dirty' solution.

As far as I know, there is no such animal.
Some scanning software offer touchup tools in them beofre you scan, but there is no magic bullet program, that has the alforythyms to fix damaged pictures.

I have been doing phtot restoration for over 10 years or so, and if you are prificient in Photoshop, then there are some nice shortcust that can save you time.

Just so you know, my average photo montage uses over 150+ photos which I scan them all in my self. 2-4 on a glass at a time, and make sure I use can of condensed air, spray the glass, and the pictures before placing them on the glass. i can scan and fix 150 photos in about 3 hours myself, with basic touchup.

Try using dust and scratches to fill in the cracks before you start your touchup, but you might want to mask out some areas (quick mask) that you want to retain more detial with (ie eyes and such).

Also if you have Photoshop CS, then you will find the healing brush a HUGE timesaver.

you may want to look at Epson. I recal that they had a software package that came with some of their better scanners that did just that.
