3 clips from the UK!!
 

Hi all,

Well I regularly read and enjoy the forum, but there's been a lack of clips posted recently, so i thought i'd post 3 small highlight clips of my own. Each one is edited in a sort of style/theme according to client's preferences, it's so much fun to be given a challenge as I'm sure you all know!

I hope these serve as proof to newbie videographers that determination can help you succeed. A year or so ago, I had never used an editing package or a high end camcorder, but one day I just decided to buy them and teach myself along the way. I'm not very technically-minded either, just creative.... and Premiere Pro wth Photoshop seem perfect for what I do.

Hey Richard,
I am a Vegas user and to teach myself that program as I went along with the video business was time consuming and very hard to be honest. I'm glad there were resource material online that aided in this process. For your 3 clips I know your clients will be happy with the product you provided them with. For the love story it was just to effects heavy for both intros. It doesn't keep my attention at all. But I'm not the recipient, and if they loved it your goal is fulfilled and great job on reaching that goal. Just keep striving with your creativity and lay off a bit on the effects and focus more on how to bring the story out big in the beginning.

Hiya Monday....as ever I really appreciate comments and I always take them on board

In order to respect the couples' privacy, I wasn't too keen on including lots of the romantic/personal speech from the couples, or even their embarrassing baby photos, ...so in that sense, it seemed a little difficult to have a real 'story' conveyed, so instead I condensed the content just to make some fun web demos. It's really just to show that I do 'love stories', whereas my demo DVD shows alot more.

I do see your point about maybe showing too many fx, but hey, that is what I'm about ('FX' Films), and I'm becoming so busy simply from using this approach, so maybe I shouldn't stop :)

Thanks for the explanation, if it's working for you using this style, that's the way to go. That's great to hear. There's a market for it and glad you are reaping from that aspect of the market. I'm into editing really fast pace highlights and many video friends I have don't like the style which is fine but there's a market for it and I'm enjoying the benefits of that. I didn't search through your website at all but have a indication there states this is to show you offer Love Stories. You may have done it already in which case disregard this part. Take Care and glad to hear business on your end is going very well. How's the HDV looking? I'm considering getting Canons new XH models by December.

that's what i love about this forum... the diversity of the ideas...when i saw other demos here in the UK from DVDs and from wedding fayres (and i'm not generalising at all), they were all a tad 'boring' with the cliche stuff all over them.

i love the diverse fast paced edits (like you mention), and the 'MTV-edits' that I've seen from the forum users. If the customer wants a constant, slow-mo b+w wedding DVD, then that's fine, but many 'young' clients (generalising again?) love the stuff we've grown up watching on the TV (have u heard of Top Gear over there? - amazing edits and colourising), so if i can do it with my NLE then carry on I say!

oh, and ur absolutely right about my lack of Love Story detail on my site...(i only mention it once with the package list) ...that's next on my agenda now.

p.s. HDV...hmm, wait until I update my PC/graphics card until I edit with that... but yeah, if i connect the camcorder to an HD TV, i'm taken back every time!
