Newbie canon xl-2 custom setting question
 

hey, guys.

great site. i'm coming from a background in film, and am just now splintering into the digital world. i purchased a canon xl-2 a couple months back, then immediately got booked on a feature (ie i haven't had a lot of time to really mess around with all the features yet).

i have a live event (outdoors on a beach - morning to late afternoon) to cover this weekend, and i want to make sure i capture it in the most professional way possible. the default settings might very well be just fine, but the people here seem to really know their way around this camera. does anyone have any suggestions as to what settings might suit me best? it will be a "strong man" type of competition i'm covering, so i'm not too concerned about capturing fast movements like surfers or anything like that.

would really appreciate any suggestions/advice.
