How to do an aisle shot with a stabilser?
 

I was thinking how do I get out of the way of the photographer when shooting the bride and father strolling down the aisle? Could u experts advise? Is it better to stay in the middle of the pathway and film they passing by? In my country, the churches r usually lined with benches on both sides of the aisle so I have the above 2 choices only..

I try to coordinate that shot with the photographer before the ceremony starts. I let them know where I will be and tell them it is fine to shoot around me. All the decent photographers stand next to me or shoot over my shoulder. We usually walk backwards down the aisle together getting a shot from about 10 feet away as the couple exits.

Usually have 1 camera (manned by my wife) at wide/medium in the back high up (about 7 feet) just to the left of the isle opposite where bridal party will be coming in from.
Then I am up front on the grooms side, just inside the isle and shoot up the isle. The photographer wil usually either be shooting over my shoulder or on the opposite side of the isle. After the bride is handed off I go to my preset tripod for lockdown shooting until the processional.

I shoot with my camera on a DVTec DV Multi Rig which enables me to shoot in many different configurations (Fig Rig Free flowing mode), shoulder mode (for stable handheld footage), low angle mode, pod supported mode and much more.
Oh, and BTW it also mounts to any tripod for lockdown shots, and folds up to fit in my case while still attached to my camera.

Yeah now i have a dilema on moving to a tripod from a stabiliser.. its not going to be easy.. oh but its great info to know the photgrapher usually shoots behind or besides.. thks!

Sean- To solve that dilemma for myself I took the advice of a couple of forum members and picked up a couple of Manfrotto QR577 quick release mounts, which cost me just a tad over a hundred from B&H. They work flawlessly for me.
