60i, 30p, or 24p for weddings in HD?
 

What's your preference and why?

720/25p

with a Z1, the scaling down is much finer than it would be to try for 1080p, the editing is much more streamlined, the files are more efficient, the resolution takes advantage of most HD capable panels, progressive scan not only offers the film feel, but offers higher resolution per frame than 540i termporal fields.
With progressive footage, the panel DOESNT have to deinterlace, u have total control. Rendering progressive is much more efficient on the output, and downconverting is also much more accurate with regard to motion. when offering wmv files to clients, they usually dont have issues running 720p compared to 1080i, h264 codecs in 720p are also much more efficient also.

i like 1080i simply for the frame size, so when delivering 720p or 576p, u cna easily reframe and zoom into the shot and make one shot look like several different cameras.

I'm along the same lines as Peter - on my Canon XL-2 I'd prefer 16:9 with 24P, give the customer more, especially now that letterbox display sales are picking up.

I have switched to 16:9 but because I film on a Sony HDR-FX1, I can only shoot in 60i. The FX1 does have some 24p mimmicking features, but they are just that..... not true 24p so I just deal with the combing and other interlaced artifacts.
