Help with Iriver T30

Hi Guys

I have just purchased the Iriver T30 to try for my audio back up.

It has the In-line socket and I would like to use a lapel microphone to use on the groom as they take their vows.

My problem is I have tried using the sennheiser lapel mic off my wireless system and I have no audio.

Can anyone tell me why it won't work or can you advise on a lapel mic that will work with it.

Thanks
I look forward to your comments

As far as I know, only the older ifp-700 and 800 series can take a mic input. The one you have may have a line input, but it's expecting a line level signal, not a mic signal. Does that model have an option to choose line or mic input level? If not, you're screwed uless you have something that will convert the mic signal to a line level signal.

The T30 can't accept a mic level. There's no pre-amp circuitry to boost the signal. If you just bought this thing for this purpose I'd try to send it back.

Oh Sh*t!

I brought it off ebay so i dont think i would be able to now.

I have found a preamp that would boost the signal i think could you check out the link and give me your thoughts?

That's hard to say. It's better than using the T30 as is but I wouldn't trust that thing for $20. And now you've got to "wad" all this up and stick it into a groom's pocket praying it all works. :)

I wouldn't throw more money at this. Put the T30 back on ebay. If cash is tight, try getting an iRiver 890 instead. They're rare but still available.

If you want to do this right though, get a proper wireless which is something you can monitor.

Or, you could hang onto it for the times you want/need to record an audio feed from a mixer. (or similar line level source)
