Digital recorder

I have an Edirol R-09 digital recorder and would like to tap into the DJ's sound board to capture the announcements of the bridal party. The recorder has a line in. What is the best way to tap into the DJ equipment and what connectors are needed?
Thanks,
John

depends on what the DJ will let you use but many times I'm using the TAPE OUT with RCA plugs from the board converted back to whatever connection I need for the recorder be it 1/4 or XLR. You might be able to use the AUX out on the board if the DJ isn't using it but be very of your levels-some DJs don't really know how to use a board properly especially if you're in the AUX. BTW those are 1/4s.

Thanks Don. Trying to figure this out because there is no internal limiter on the recorder and I will not be able to babysit it to watch for peaking. I guess I need to see how capable the DJ is before I tap into the board.

John, set the thing up and have the DJ run a full level sound check, just like he would during introductions. The reason I say intros is because not only do you have music going but also voice and believe me, there are a lot of DJs that think unless they stick the mic down their throat and scream they won't be heard. Set your level for that and the rest of the night should be a piece of cake.
