Wide-angle lens question (16x9Inc.) for XH-A1
 

After a bit of research I've come to the conclusion that the 16x9Inc. wide-angle (or even fisheye), will be what i'm after for my XH-A1s to replace my cheap wide-angle from Hong Kong (ebay)

Does anyone have experience of this, esp. with weddings?

Vignetting occurences?

More importantly: good/cheap places to buy them from?!

it is a good wide angle lens, no vignetting that I've seen.

Yep, its a great lens. There is definitely no vignetting with the lens itself. If you buy the lens hood and it is less than 97% straight you will see very slight vignetting at full wide. It is a heavier a bigger lens, which I like, but I wouldn't think of putting i on a glidecam setup.

It it soft around the edges, maybe the outer 10%, but I have not fond that to big a big deal and it isn't bad.

The stand alone 6X wide angle lens for the XL-H1 really blows it away in sharpness and overall picture quality, but these are different types of lens.

I always have that lens on my A1 and steadicam and it works great. Highly recommended.

thanks guys...glad you mentioned the use of it on a glidecam Patrick, because that was one of the main reasons for getting it..and now you're saying it's quite heavy

so are you talking about 6X or the 16x9 when you say it works great on the A1 and steadicam? sorry, got confused there!

sounds like my glidecam2000 won't cope, damn, back to the drawing board!

On the glidecam both lenses are too heavy but on a Steadicam the extra weight actually really helps. If your looking for something perfect for a glidecam, I would grab a vfgadgets.com red eye wide angle. It weighs as much as a UV filter so it is a perfect fit.

Even on the Glidecam models that can hold more weight? Like the Glidecam 4000?

The gliecam itself works wonderfully with the WA and Canon XHA1. Its your wrist that won't work after a couple minutes. Even with the forearm brace, I just couldn't make it work.

yeah definitely Patrick, i'd love to meet up, infact i'd definitely make time for it! (and i could even offer to help out, as i have two canon xh-a1s...PAL though)

greenwich is 1.5 hours away from me, no probs at all getting there

cheers too for the lens advice in this thread...i need to weigh up costs, practicality, and err...weight!
