Denny, one of the things (for me) that is great about Vegas is that it is hugely intuitive. You really can be editing right away. Open a new project, import some video files, drag 'em into the timeline (overlap to cross-dissolve, upper video track for titles...etc). You might find that a couple of pots of coffee, and a few hours of dragging and dropping... and a few visits here, and you're on your way.

Now, to really explore the potential of Vegas... then invest in some training stuff, but you should be able to get going pretty easily.

Check out the shortcuts thread stickied at the top of the Vegas forum... very helpful. Also check out the link in my post there... the modifier keys enable slip and roll editing... very useful!
