Another interlaced/deinterlace question

So I have asked this before, and get the answer I am looking for, but then start digging into older posts and find answers that contradict what I thought was the right way to do something. My concern is this...
I have a timeline with various Xl1s footage shot in "Frame Mode" or the progressive mode, and I also have standard 60i footage on the same time line...I thought I would just be able to set the render settings as Progressive and render the whole timeline out. Does doing this effect the Frame Mode footage or should I render out the interlaced footage to progressive first and then drop it in with the Xl1s footage and then render out? If so, do I render it out in progressive or interlaced...I guess I am just confused on how the two types of footage interact with each other as far as rendering. I've given up on trying to convert any footage to 24p and figure if I want that look, get an Xl2 or H1...but I am content with the progressive look of frame mode.
