Turn time/date code on/off in a DVD ?

Not sure if this is a Vegas question or not. Is there a way to setup video so that you can turn the time and date code on and off at any given time while watching video on a mastered DVD?

I took 1 hour of footage, imported with Vegas 8.0 off my Canon HV20, no other changes. I then imported the files into Nero Vision 5 and mastered a DVD. Nero Vision is extremely basic, which is why I used it this time. I don't have DVD Architect but if that's far superior, I will get it to go along with Vegas.

Have them push the "Display" button on their remote? Naturally different players display different things but most have several different displays they'll scroll through.

Will that actually trigger the date and time code that was recoded to the HDV tape?

No. it will show the display time/time remaining on the DVD.

There's no means in Vegas to turn on the "Date/Time" - just the "timecode".

That's what I thought. So if I want the timecode to be visible on the DVD, I have to enable it in all the clips in Vegas and then master it that way to DVD? This would mean the timecode is always visible, correct?
