No HD DVD burning options?

I guess this is a pretty silly question, given the bitter format war right now, but is there or will there ever be a HD DVD burner that will work with Vegas?

HD DVD is where, for better or worse, I want to put my money on.

i've seen blueray burners. but then vegas doesn't author dvd's anyway, unless you mean dvd architect?

Vegas 8 can burn BluRay directly off the timeline. No chapters or menus but it's a start.

Vegas 8 does burn blu-ray disk with chapter points from your timeline.

AH Michael you're right...Chapters but no menus. My fingers got ahead of my brain. ;-)

When there are choices for HD DVD burners at an accessible price, those burners will likely be supported in Vegas/Architect.
I'd be surprised if Sony Creative elected to not support HD DVD. They have little to no relationship with Sony Electronics in terms of what they do and don't support.

You can burn a 20 minute or less project on a single layer DVD+-R in HD DVD format and have it play back perfectly on any Toshiba HD DVD player. You can also do up to 40 minutes on a dual layer DVD+-R.

For longer projects, BD-R is the only viable option right now.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm editing a full length horror film with vegas 8(a) right now, and want to be able to have an HD quality master...

Which way is practical for me now - burning HD quality over several normal DVDs?

Douglas - glad you think they'll support HD DVDs - if they ever come out :)
