Project properites

I have shot in 16.9 what should my Project properites be?

PAL DV (720x576, 25.000 fps)
My preview is black bars top and bottom. which it should be right
or
PAL DV Widescreen (720x576, 25.000 fps)
My preview is squashed tall skinny people.

Im previewing this back through my camera to a TV.

When it comes to rendering, should I render Video: 25 fps, 720x576 aspect ratio 16.9
or
Video: 25 fps, 720x576 aspect ratio 4.3

Whats the correct way to get this right for both SD TV set black bars top & bottom and Wide screen TV set?

I have only used the SD 4.3 aspect ratio for all my projects and this is a new format for me.
Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Simon

Simon, I shot my first few widescreen projects earlier this year.
In all cases, I used the DV widescreen templates for both project properties and render settings.
They looked great on a true widescreen TV and had black bars on top & bottom on an SD set.

Thanks mike,
I will try using those settings.
What about veiwing this from the time line out to a SD TV set as I edit. Why is the footage not being displayed in the correct format black bars top and bottom.
I did not mention earlier that im using a Sony PD170 CAM.

When I use PAL DV (720x576, 25.000 fps)
My preview is black bars top and bottom on the TV but this is a SD 4.3 project setting.

Regards
Simon

Simon,

Work in PAL DV Widescreen, right click the preview display and click "Simulate Device Aspect Ratio".
