Mixed Templates in Vegas Pro at DVinfo.net

Hi there
Im doing a NTSC widescreen project (template set in project properties) and need to use some footage from an 4:3 NTSC cam. I've put this on to the timeline but when it plays it doesn't play back smoothly (it judders) on my (only) monitor, not like the widescreen footage. Is this normal and will resolve itself once I render the project?
Sorry for the obvious question, but hey, you gotta start somewhere. Cheers.
