Lost project - impossible to re-render?
Hi all.
I'm a relative newcomer to Vegas & videography in general, but I've learnt a lot from reading many threads here and an instructional video from VASST I received when I purchased Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8.0 Platinum recently. Here's my question. I spent a lot of time editing 26 minutes of footage into a 9 minute WMV with, I think, the absolute optimal settings. Except for one thing. I forgot to turn off re-sample on every clip in the timeline before rendering. After uploading the video to Vimeo I had to dash out & hastily closed down Movie Studio & didn't save the project. :( Pardon my naivete' here but I assume it's impossible to bring the project back? What are those sfk files I see in the hard drive folder I rendered to? Can they be used to restore the project? Thanking you in anticipation of your advice. Cheers, Neil. BTW - here's the video. http://www.vimeo.com/user316745/videos |
You never ever saved the project??? If not, you can't get it back at all. If yes, you can get back to where you last saved.
The .sfk files won't help you. they're used to create the wave forms on the audio tracks. |

Anyway, thanks for confirming what I suspected. |
When you x'd out on your computer, it didn't ask you to save it? It's a longshot, but whatever your filename is, lets say for example aaa.veg, there should be another file called aaa.veg.bak, which is the backup file. You can search for it and see if there is anything there. Good luck, that really sucks.

Thanks for the suggestion about looking for a backup file. I did a search of my hard drive for *.bak and there was a backup for another project there but not the one I was after. I still have all the captured/encoded clips though so at least I don't have to get them out of my camcorder again. |
