Vegas pro 8 render for flash

I've rendered a short video for someone, for youtube,i went on youtube, got a tutorial saying to use WMV,i set all the settings in my template to the same as the tutorial,my 2gb file ended up as 27mb.
When i viewed it in realplayer and windows media player it was pretty good quality, however when i saw it on youtube, the quality had dropped a bit.Is there a better vegas template to use ? Has youtube encoded it again ? Some stuff i see on the net, especially things like property tours look excellent quality, played by flash, would a video destined for playback by flash rather than youtube require a different template.
Paul.

Flash won't necessarily get you better image quality, but an online video service that allows for a higher bit rate will. Some of the more popular ones: blip.tv, stage6.com, or vimeo.com.

Other online video sharing services:
Brightcove.tv
DailyMotion
Sony eyeVio
Google Video
Veoh
ClipShack
Crackle
ViddlerMegavideo
Metacafe
Spike
Yahoo Video
Motionbox
Revver

Personally I like vimeo.com. See this thread for Vimeo encoding tips in Vegas . There is also a Vimeo EX1 channel created by Bill Joy.

I've seen Vimeo,it is very good quality.
But if/when i get my own website and i put videos up on it,what's the best vegas template to use for that, assuming it's going to be played by flash,it's the most common.I don't need full size HD like Vimeo, just good quality, about 1/4 screen size.I've been told my clips can't be too big a web designer,or it's gonna cost me loads of money each month for hosting.
Thanks.

I have experimented with all formats, my best luck is mpeg4 out V8 I use 640x480 2 pass 768,000 and 2,000,000 bps, and the quality is pretty good, youtube is the worst for quality, even my site, www.petplanetvideos.com is much better, there are some better sites, but sometmes the better the quality they want to continually buffer the vid, its annoying, for youtube I was using mpeg4 at 455x350

If you want to render to Flash for your website, On2 Flix Standard is an inexpensive way to go. Also, keep in mind that many video services also allow you to embed your video, even if it's hosted on their site. Nice way to save on bandwidth. And like Hugh said, h.264/mpeg4/avc can work very nicely.

Well I tried and paid for the Flix Standard and it will not convert *.mpg files rendered from Vegas. I reported this to them and did not get any replies or supoport from them.

The demo which is actually a demo of the pro version works.

So I paid $40.00 for a progam that doesn't work correctly and no support!

I downloaded Super http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html and tried it, it works great and it is free.

Flix = Flunks!
