Using Levels or Broadcast Colors

I have been using the levels filter when my shot footage is over 100 in the waveform luminance Video Scope.

When i'm over 100 luminance i adjust the output end slider(in the levels filter) to get my levels just below 100 luminance(this is correct right ?)

But when i have hundreds of short clips this takes forever to do, so if i use the Broadcast filter......will it do the same thing/job? as all i can see is that its cliping the output at 100 or where ever you set it.
Can anyone shed some more info on this? and how best to use the Levels filter?

Cheers
Simon

1-that's right
2-No, levels doesn't clip...it remaps the out of bounds values back to legal. If it clipped, there would be no point in doing it.
3-you can set up the default video FX to include the Levels filter. when you drop a clip on the timeline, it will be all set to go.

Thanks Bill....
I have just been watching a tutioral on Final cut pro about setting black and white levels.
I found this really useful.

FCP uses its three way color wheel a lot like Vegas but you can lower or raise blacks, mids, whites within this feature.

Vegas does not have this feature but if you use levels you can get very close to the same thing.

cheers
Simon
