Strange tick

I get this strange tick in vegas. Usually, the tick is on any audio source, less though on studio songs. The random tick does not show up in my render, it is only one my preview. I recorded this with my H2 http://droptodesign.com/test/sounds/ You'll hear the tick coming out of my monitors.

The tick is only in Vegas, and not in let's say a song played through Windows Media.

I'm wondering if it is some sort of ground issue, which I've had a little bit of, maybe wires too close to power, etc. Although my machines are plugged up to APS backups.

Any ideas are appreciated.

First thing that came to mind was some kind of interferance but you say it's not on the render only in Vegas so the only thing I can think is a ghost in the machine that doesn't like the music ;-)
Seriously, are you using the Sony capture program to load the footage and if so, do you hear it when loading in? Perhaps try turniong off all the the preloaded audio FX on the track header and see if it's still there-then if it's not there turn the FX back on 1 at a time until you find the culprit.
If that doesn't work then feed the ghost in the machine.

Stephen, check to make sure you don't accidentally have the metronome feature enabled.
It's found under the "Options" menu.

Steven, that sounds to me like interference. Listen to the third 'click' it's similar to the sounds you sometimes get with via a wireless mic when there's transmission nearby.

Yes I'd check all the cables, earths, house wiring, all of it. Have you installed any new gear recently? Some of those Ferrite caps clipped around your cables might help too.

If you're one of those people who has to know where in blazes the noise is coming from and has the patience/time to do it, try a section at a time. If you're like me, just, well...

Cheers.

Yeah, I was thinking of taking the entire machine out of the room, strip it of just the bare wires and see what's up. The thing that annoys me is the tick is random and only in Vegas preview, the noise is worse when my audio source is louder. I was thinking orginally that it might have been because I had mixed audio sample rates, but then I rulled that out by muting all but the one.

I even threw in an mp3 and it does it some on that, not as bad as my lav mics etc, but it still gets little ticks.

I only hear this in vegas preview, annoying it is. I'll also be doing as Don suggested and backtrack through plugin etc. I'm still leaning towards sample rate issues, but I'll need to get to the bottom of it, I need to hear what is actually there.
